Prominent legal scholar Alan Dershowitz is mourning the death of his 64-year-old son, Elon Dershowitz, who died from a stroke on Sunday.
“The Dershowitz Family is heartbroken to share that Elon had a stroke and passed away peacefully, having donated his organs, on August 17, 2025,” according to an online obituary, which said the film producer died surrounded by loved ones.
Elon’s film credits include the 1990 film “Reversal of Fortune” based on his father’s successful appeal of Claus von Bülow’s conviction after the prominent socialite was accused of trying to kill his wealthy wife. Ron Silver played Dershowitz in the film.
Elon’s producing credits also include the 1987 Oliver Stone film “Wall Street” and 1998’s “Fallen,” starring Denzel Washington and John Goodman.
At the time of his death, Elon was producing his dad’s “The Dershow” podcast, which explores newsworthy topics including disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, whom Dershowitz defended as an attorney.
Elon was one of two sons Dershowitz shared with his first wife Sue, who died in 1983. His younger brother Jamin is an attorney for the WNBA. They also have a half-sister named Ella from their dad’s second marriage. She acts and designs crossword puzzles.
“He was Uncle E to all his family,” according to Elon’s obituary.
