Erewhon partners with LACMA for permanent cafe and exclusive merch

Pricey smoothies, meet priceless works of art.

Trendy grocer Erewhon has officially put down roots at the LA County Museum of Art — making its pop-up location at the newly-expanded museum permanent.

The wildly popular retailer, known for mouth-watering eats and eye-watering prices, announced this week that their LACMA location is here to stay, and they’re offering special items to celebrate.

The grocer has unveiled a LACMA-themed apparel capsule collection that includes a sweatshirt, tote and hat. Each item will be decorated with hand-painted details.

They’re also offering a special LACMA smoothie featuring organic lion’s mane paired with organic mango, pineapple, strawberry, and mandarin.

The capsule collection is inspired by Three Quintains (Hello Girls) (1964), the fountain created by Alexander Calder — located in front of the café.

A portion of the collection’s sales will go to education and exhibition programs at the museum. The items can be purchased at the LACMA Store in the David Geffen Galleries and online at thelacmastore.org.

“We could not be prouder to see our partnership with LACMA evolve from a pop-up into a permanent home,” Erewhon CEO Tony Antoci said in a press release

“As our first-ever concept café, this marks an important milestone for Erewhon and the beginning of a new chapter in how we bring the Erewhon experience to the communities we serve.”

The company, famed for its $20 and sometimes more expensive juices and smoothies, irst opened its LACMA location in May. Not everyone was thrilled with their arrival.

“Museums are supposed to be accessible, Erewhon is the antithesis of accessible,” one social media critic sniped.

“This is not the place for an Erewhon! I hope this isn’t true!” one person commented, while another fumed: “What a horrible decision. Get EREWHON out of this public space immediately.”

Their cries went unheard.

Erewhon at LACMA joins the chain’s 13 other locations, including its most recent location in Thousand Oaks, the Vernon-based chain’s first supermarket outside of LA County.

The chain is also planning to open new locations in Downtown LA at 940 S. Hill St. in June 2027 — and Costa Mesa in September 2027.

The Pacific Palisades location is set to reopen in January 2027, after being destroyed in the Palisades fire.
