Following a disappointing stint with the Jets, Haason Reddick was the first domino to fall after the legal tampering period officially began at Noon on Monday.
Reddick has agreed to terms on a one-year deal for $14 million, including $12 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network.
The pass rusher is coming off a season with the Jets in which he was traded from the Eagles last March and held out for the first seven weeks of last season. After his lengthy holdout, Reddick, 30, had the worst season of his career. He finished with 14 tackles, three quarterback hits, and one sack in 10 games.
Following his trade to the Jets, Reddick missed all of the team’s offseason workouts last spring and was fined for missing mandatory minicamp last June. Because of his holdout, Reddick forfeited $5.5 million of his $14.25 million base salary and lost around $7 million.
After he joined the Jets, Reddick wanted a contract extension because he was entering the final year of a three-year, $45 million contract he signed with the Eagles as a free agent in 2022. Reddick believed he outperformed the contract after registering four consecutive years of double-digit sacks.
When he was traded, the Jets offered Reddick a contract extension, but he declined the deal. However, the Jets still executed the trade, hoping the two sides could reach an agreement. But Reddick didn’t report for the start of training camp last July and didn’t report to the Jets facility until before Week 8. He finally agreed and signed an adjusted contract after the team got off to a 2-4 start.
The Jets finished 5-12 last season and missed the playoffs for the 14th consecutive season.
Now, Reddick will look to have a bounce-back year after agreeing to a one-year deal with the Buccaneers. He has 59 career sacks with the Cardinals, Panthers, Eagles, and Jets over eight seasons. The 2017 first-round draft selection out of Temple was one of the best pass rushers in the league from 2020-23, when he registered 50.5 sacks during that span.
