Ex-Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden accused of beating wife, sexting teens

Former Maroon 5 bassist Mickey Madden has been accused of attacking his wife after she found him sending lewd messages to teenagers, according to a report published Thursday.

Madden, 46, is the subject of a temporary domestic violence restraining order from his wife, Kate Bowman, reported TMZ.

In court docs obtained by the outlet, Bowman says she learned from a stranger about Madden’s behavior and went through his phone on July 21, when she found him messaging teens about a rape fantasy and soliciting explicit pictures.

Bowman claims that after she confronted Madden, he went “insane,” slammed her against a kitchen counter, pushed her against a gate and shoved her into a rock wall before she finally escaped, according to TMZ. Bowman says she hasn’t seen her husband since, though he’s tried to apology multiple times.

In her filing for a restraining order, Bowman included several text messages allegedly from Madden and a seven-page handwritten apology letter, which TMZ obtained.

“I will be working and digging and facing the darkest corners of my consciousness to emerge from this time as a man worthy of you,” it reads, saying he’d be seeking treatment from a sex addiction rehab program.

In her court filing, Bowman says she worries for her safety once Madden returns from rehab and wants him to be barred from their home and her workplace, reported TMZ. While the temporary restraining order was granted, the judge denied the order for Madden to be removed from the residence pending a hearing.

Madden was the bassist in Maroon 5 from the time the band formed in 1994 until June 2020. He parted ways with the group after being charged with intimate partner violence in Los Angeles, though he was not convicted.
