A former Penn State football player was injured and his girlfriend was killed in an ATV accident in northern Pennsylvania, authorities said.
Julian Fleming, 24, and Alyssa Boyd, 23, were riding on a Yamaha four-wheeler in Columbia Township on Friday night when they struck a deer on a rural road, Pennsylvania State Police said in a crash report Saturday.
Fleming was driving the ATV and sustained serious injuries, police said. He was transported to a local hospital but released by Sunday afternoon, according to 247 Sports.
Boyd, a native of Bloomsburg, Pa., sustained “extensive injuries” and was pronounced dead at the scene, cops said. Investigators also found a dead deer nearby.
Boyd’s final Instagram post showed her and Fleming together following a Penn State football game on Nov. 9, 2024. The Nittany Lions defeated Washington 35-6 in the game, and Boyd captioned the post, “Proud of you 3,” using Fleming’s jersey number.

Fleming was a highly touted recruit in high school, where he was a superstar at Southern Columbia High in Catawissa, Pa. He played four seasons at Ohio State before transferring to Penn State for his final season in 2024.
After completing his college career, he earned tryouts with a few NFL teams but failed a physical with the Green Bay Packers.
Columbia Township, where the accident occurred, is about halfway between Allentown, Pa., and Buffalo, N.Y. in sparsely-populated northern Pennsylvania. Fleming and Boyd both grew up in the region.
