Carol Burnett is addressing the future of “Palm Royale” ahead of its Season 2 finale.
The comedy legend, who stars as Norma Dellacorte in the hit Apple TV series, has revealed that she “doesn’t know” whether the show will continue after the current season concludes on Jan. 14.
“It seems like a lot of the stories were wrapped up in this final season,” Burnett, 92, exclusively told The Post. “They’d have to, I think, create new characters, because a lot of the people who are in it are doing other things now.”
Created by Abe Sylvia and loosely based on Juliet McDaniel’s 2018 novel “Mr. & Mrs. American Pie,” “Palm Royale” follows social-climbing outsider Maxine Dellacorte-Simmons (Kristen Wiig) as she fights to break into the high society of the elite and exclusive Palm Royale country club in 1969 Palm Beach, Fla.
With a supporting cast rounded out by Burnett, Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Leslie Bibb and Ricky Martin, the show has been nominated for more than 10 Emmy Awards and several additional accolades – including Wiig for a 2026 Actor Award.
Although Burnett’s character was in a coma for a large portion of Season 1, she took on a much more prominent role when the latest season kicked off on Nov. 12.
Still, the “Carol Burnett Show” alum was hesitant to say whether she’d return as Norma should “Palm Royale” continue. So far, Apple TV has not renewed the series for Season 3.
“It would depend, because I have other projects that I’m interested in behind the scenes,” Burnett told The Post. “So it kind of depends.”
“But I do love Abe Sylvia, who created it,” she added. “He’s a delight to work with.”
Wiig and Martin, meanwhile, teased the future of “Palm Royale” during a recent chat with Collider in anticipation of the show’s Season 2 finale.
Although the pair, like Burnett, acknowledged that they don’t know what’s in store, they both hope that a third season happens.
“I have the need to say I hope we have Season 3 so we can just really show off,” Martin, who stars as Robert Diaz, laughed. “Did I just say that?”
“Honestly, I can’t even speculate because our writers and Abe Sylvia, the captain of our ship, always just have these ideas that I would never even think of,” Wiig chimed in. “I’ve heard nothing about it. We’re just hoping that it happens.”
Sylvia himself suggested a possible third season wasn’t completely off the table – especially after developing such a close relationship with the cast while shooting Seasons 1 and 2.
“I was so excited to be able to come back to these characters,” he told The Post ahead of Season 2’s premiere. “Now that I know all of the actors personally, these are all the places that I know they can go as artists, and I wanted to make sure with everybody that we went there.”
Sylvia also couldn’t help but praise Burnett for her hysterical performance as Norma.
“I would cast Carol Burnett as anything, honestly,” he shared in November. “I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anybody get a laugh with just a little twitch of the face, lying still. But she did.”
“Stealing scenes that she was literally sleeping through,” the “Palm Royale” creator laughed. “That’s what a master she is.”
As for how she came to play Norma in the first place, Burnett said that it was a no-brainer once she learned who else would be starring in the series.
“I remember when they asked me to do it about two years ago,” Burnett told The Post. “[Sylvia] called me and said we’d love you to be one of the characters.”
“I said, ‘Who’s in it?’ And they said, Kristen Wiig, Laura Dern, Allison Janney,” she recalled. “I said, ‘Don’t go any further. I’ll be on. I don’t care what you want me to do. I want to work with those people.’”
The Season 2 finale of “Palm Royale” releases on Apple TV on Jan. 14.
