They were the only people on board the Cirrus SR22 plane.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.

The family were the owners of Buchanan Farms in Sanford, according to WRAL.

Abraham Garcia, who worked for the family, told the station they were returning from a Fourth of July weekend beach trip.

They took off from Merritt Island, Fla. around 11 a.m. and crashed on their approach to the North Carolina airport, The News & Observer reported.

“During this incredibly difficult time, we stand together in support of their family and one another,” Grace Christian School, where the children were students, wrote on Facebook. “We extend our love, prayers and deepest condolences to their family, friends, classmates, teachers and staff.”
