The Creature will take it shaken, not stirred.
Fresh off of his first Oscar nomination for playing the Creature in Guillermo del Toro’s “Frankenstein,” Jacob Elordi, 28, is rumored to be in talks to potentially be the next James Bond.
On Thursday, several outlets such as Yahoo reported that the “Saltburn” star is rumored to have met with upcoming Bond director Denis Villeneuve.
Bond fans had mixed reactions to the speculation, with most of them pointing out Elordi’s famously tall 6’5 stature.
“His nemesis this time is gonna be low doorframes,” one person joked.
“Jacob Elordi is too tall to play James Bond. They’d have to give 007 a panel van to drive. He won’t fit in any sports cars,” one fan commented.
Another observer quipped in a post on X, “James Bond disappearing into a crowd. Evil pursuers “where did he go. notices 6’5 Bond’s head sticking out above the crowd. ‘oh there he is.’”
Another fan on Reddit said about Elordi, who is Australian, “He’s not British. He’s too famous. He’s too young. And most importantly he is too tall. James Bond is not Jack Reacher or Superman. 6’5”…is not a good look for a spy. I’m not hating, and I’ll give him every chance if he is selected. They could certainly do worse. But I think it would be a strange choice.”
Elordi isn’t British, but if he did get cast, he wouldn’t be the only non-Brit Bond.
Pierce Brosnan is Irish. George Lazenby – who played the iconic spy in just one movie, 1969’s “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service,” is also Australian.
Elordi previously put on an American accent to play a psycho high schooler for his role in the HBO series “Euphoria.” Additionally, he put on British accents in “Frankenstein,” “Saltburn” and his upcoming “Wuthering Heights” movie with Margot Robbie.
Still, most critics weren’t sold.
“The concept of jacob elordi doing espionage while being built like frankenstein’s monster,” one fan joked on X, formerly Twitter.
Another person posted, “Jacob elordi bond on an undercover mission,” next to a photo of the notoriously giant basketball player Shaquille O’Neal unsuccessfully hiding behind a small tree.
“idk guys but i don’t think a gigantic lanky australian would make a great mi6 secret agent,” another person commented.
Not all fans were against the idea, however.
“We would be incredibly fortunate to have Jacob Elordi as James Bond,” another wrote. “Exactly the kind of pick that would excite a whole new generation of Bond fans. Brosnan level wit & charm, chameleonic, melancholy, intense, a darkness inside he can bring out. Who gives a f–k about his height?”
Neither Elordi nor Villeneuve have publicly commented on the rumor. The Post has reached out for comment.
The last Bond, Daniel Craig, 57, stepped away from the role after 2021’s “No Time To Die.”
The next Bond movie will reportedly begin production in 2027, from the “Dune” director, with a screenplay by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight.
They’re rumored to be looking for a younger actor to play a fresh new version of 007.
In his most recent interview, Elordi didn’t say anything about Bond, but weighed in on his Oscar nomination.
“I am beside myself,” he told The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.
“I am so excited. I mean, I’m 28 years old. It’s wind in the sails.”
