FBI deputy director says video proves Jeffrey Epstein killed himself

FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino insists sex offender Jeffrey Epstein wasn’t murdered behind bars in 2019, saying there’s video evidence to prove he killed himself in his cell.

Bongino told “Fox & Friends” Thursday morning that in his new role with the FBI, he’s seen no evidence suggesting foul play in Epstein’s death. He said the footage, which will soon be released to the public, will make it clear that no one else was in Epstein’s cell when he died.

The disgraced financier was being held at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Correctional Center, awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, when he was found dead on Aug. 10, 2019.

While his death was officially ruled suicided by hanging, many conspiracy theorists believe Epstein was murdered to stop him from spilling damning secrets about his powerful associates in government and business. He was known to have consorted with U.S. presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, British royal Prince Andrew and billionaire entrepreneur Bill Gates.

The footage promised by Bongino could theoretically put to rest the myriad conspiracy theories that have fueled content for right-wing outlets like Fox News, where Bongino worked before President Trump made him the right-hand man to FBI Director Kash Patel.

“There’s no one [in the cell] but him,” Bongino said Thursday. “There’s no DNA, there’s no audio, there’s no fingerprints, there’s no suspects, there’s no accomplices, there’s no tips. … There’s video clear as day, he’s the only person in there.”

Patel, himself a conspiracy theory promoter, has also admitted that investigators’ initial findings into Epstein’s cause of death were indeed correct.

“Listen, they have a right to their opinion, but you know a suicide when you see one, and that’s what that was,” Patel said on Fox Business earlier this month when asked about theories of a deep state cover-up.

Despite the latest assertions, Bongino once raged on his podcast that Epstein’s death was shrouded in mystery, without presenting evidence to counter the conclusions reached by officials.

“It’s unbelievable the guy ‘killed himself‘ and now nobody is going to know,” he said while using his fingers to indicate air quotes around “killed himself.”

Epstein had been under suicide watch and psychiatric observation prior to his death. However, he insisted he wasn’t suicidal, telling a jail psychologist he had a “wonderful life” and “would be crazy” to end it.
