‘Floribama Shore’ star Kirk Medas dead at 33

“Floribama Shore” star Kirk Medas died Friday after nearly two weeks of hospitalization in South Florida. He was 33.

Medas, who starred on the Florida-set “Jersey Shore” spinoff that ran from 2017 to 2021, died of liver failure, his father told TMZ.

He was being treated for necrotizing pancreatitis at an intensive care unit, where he spent the majority of the past two weeks. Medas had been comatose and put on a ventilator.

His mother previously established a GoFundMe to help Medas with medical bills and rehab, as he did not have medical insurance. Nearly $36,000 of the $100,000 goal has been raised so far.

Necrotizing pancreatitis occurs when a part of the pancreas dies due to inflammation or injury, most commonly caused by gallstones or heavy alcohol consumption. Infection then becomes the main complication, which can lead to sepsis and can cause temporary or permanent organ damage, or even death, according to Cedars-Sinai.

It’s unclear what led to Medas’ condition.

He was remembered by former castmate Aimee Hall as “a brother, a best friend.”

“We are all trying to process this unimaginable loss. Kirk was the glue that held us all together. He loved each and every one of us so deeply, with a heart bigger than this world,” said Hall.
