Former Manhattan sex crimes prosecutor Maurene Comey Monday sued the White House and the Justice Department for her abrupt firing this summer — days after she’d been assigned to take the lead on a major public corruption case — for allegedly targeting her based on President Trump’s animus toward her father and her perceived political beliefs.
“Defendants have not provided any explanation whatsoever for terminating Ms. Comey. In truth, there is no legitimate explanation. Rather, Defendants fired Ms. Comey solely or substantially because her father is former FBI Director James B. Comey, or because of her perceived political affiliation and beliefs, or both,” Comey’s Manhattan federal court lawsuit reads.
Comey, who worked on the cases against notorious sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein, his imprisoned accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted rap entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs, and a host of other high-profile names, was fired by the DOJ in July without reason.

Her lawsuit notes that far-right activist and Trump whisperer Laura Loomer had called for her termination based on her family ties and boasted about influencing it after the fact.
“President Trump has publicly stated: ‘If you’re Loomered you’re in deep trouble. That’s the end of your career in a sense,’” the lawsuit quotes the president.
When Comey asked Manhattan U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton what the basis was for her firing, her lawsuit details, he responded: “All I can say is it came from Washington. I can’t tell you anything else.”
Lawyers for Comey and representatives for the DOJ, White House, and various offices named as defendants did not immediately respond to the Daily News’s requests for comment.
