From Flushing, Queens, to Hollywood, California.
Fran Drescher channeled her iconic “Nanny” character, Fran Fine, on Tuesday while receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The sitcom star, 68, wore a leopard print dress in honor of the series, which ran for six seasons from 1993 to 1999.
Drescher and her ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, created the show that followed Fran, a fashionable cosmetics saleswoman who becomes the caretaker for a widowed Broadway producer’s (Charles Shaughnessy) three kids: Maggie (Nicholle Tom), Brighton (Benjamin Salisbury) and Grace (Madeline Zima).
Drescher wore a bold red lip, her dark hair down in curls, and paired the mid-length dress with cheetah print pumps.
Fran was known for her signature leopard print outfits on the show, alongside several other iconic looks that deemed her a style icon during the ’90s.
At the ceremony, which took place on Drescher’s 68th birthday, her “Nanny” co-stars Tom, 47, and Zima, 40, and Jacobson, 67, were all in attendance to show their support.
During her speech, Zima acknowledged Drescher’s untouchable fashion sense from the show.
“Fran Drescher is not just a household name — she is the household. She’s the glamorous aunt, the no-nonsense mom, the best friend who tells you when your outfit needs a little more leopard print, and the neighbor whose laugh you can hear through the drywall,” said the actress.
“When ‘The Nanny’ first hit our screens in the ’90s, she didn’t just change television; she redecorated it,” Zima continued. “Suddenly, the working-class Jewish women from Queens, they weren’t side characters anymore. They were the stars. They were smart. They were sexy. They were hilarious — and they wore Bob Mackie.”
Before receiving her star, Drescher opened up about how much being honored by her co-stars meant to her.
“I really love my sisters,” she told People. “And each one of them, I have such high regard for. I feel very honored and blessed that they’re willing to show up and talk about me.”
Earlier in September, Drescher reunited with Shaughnessy, 70, Jacobson, and producers for a dinner.
“Out 4 sup w/ mr sheffield and the EPs of ‘The Nanny,’” the actress captioned her Instagram post. “A gr8 nite indeed!”
The group, which included executive producers Robert Sternin, Diane Wilk and Prudence Fraser, all smiled for the photo opp.
Shaughnessy posted the shot to his own account, gushing, “Getting the band back together….?! A great night out with Susan and ‘The Nanny’ gang!!”
Fans immediately had one request in the comments section.
“Please do a reboot,” one follower asked. “I want to see what the twins look like now. Watch Max and Fran become grandparents too. Love The Nanny. Thank you for bringing this show in to our lives. 💜😍.”
A second social media user stated, “‘Getting the Band back together’ Don’t tease us, Charlie 😭💕.”
“I love this photo so much!!,” another person shared. “So much nostalgia in this one picture! ❤️❤️ Max and Fran forever! Charlie, you look fantastic.”
As the show turned 30 in 2023, Drescher teased the possibility of a revival.
“We were in conversations with Sony, our parent company, to figure out what we could do that would be fun and exciting for the fans to tune into,” she confessed.
“We don’t really know, but we have a lot of options on the table, and we’re kind of open to all of them,” detailed Drescher, “and everything else, you know, will kind of take a back burner to this right now because there’s only one 30th anniversary. And the show, you know, is the gift that keeps on giving and has tremendous longevity.”
