A bundle of communication wires fell from the elevated subway tracks above a Cypress Hill street on Friday, damaging six cars below but leaving subway service on the J train unscathed.
Transit sources tell the Daily News the heavy cables fell from the tracks above Fulton St. between Linwood and Elton Sts. around 6:30 a.m., after the extreme cold weakened the insulators holding it to the elevated track structure.
The falling thick wires damaged six cars on the street below, but no injuries were reported.
The cable remained intact and functional as it drooped down to street level, sources said, allowing communications and signaling on the line to continue.

J train service in both directions remained unaffected midday Friday, as MTA crews worked to hoist the line back into place and reattach it to the elevated line.
