Georgia teen girl charged with killing parents after phony 911 call

A 17-year-old Georgia girl has been charged with killing her mother and stepfather, months after she called 911 and claimed to have found them dead.

In addition to murder charges, Sarah Grace Patrick is also facing two counts of aggravated assault in connection with the deaths of her parents, Kristen Brock, 41, and James Brock, 45, WSB-TV reported. Their other daughter, just 6 years old, found the couple fatally shot inside their home in Tyus on February 20. Police said Patrick then called officers to the residence, where they found Kristen and James Brock dead in their bed.

“From the very moment the 911 call was received, a relentless investigation began,” Carroll County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ashley Hulsey said during a press conference Tuesday.

Authorities previously noted there was no sign of forced entry at the home and that nothing had been taken, though the door had been left slightly ajar.

“Our team has sifted through mountains of physical and digital evidence and collaborated with the FBI and GBI crime lab,” Hulsey said.

Patrick turned herself in Tuesday, after learning of the warrants out for arrest. She remained behind bars on Wednesday and prosecutors plan to try her as an adult.

An investigation into the matter is still ongoing.

“We don’t know what goes through the mind of a child who wants to harm their parents,” Hulsey told reporters. “She’s 17. She’s kind of been out on her own. She’s lived with different family members and moved all over the place.”
