There won’t be much New York representation at the NFL’s 2026 Pro Bowl Games.
Pass rusher Brian Burns is the Giants’ lone Pro Bowl selection and was named a starter, while the Jets do not have one.
The NFL announced the initial AFC and NFC rosters on Tuesday, though additional players will likely be added once others decline to participate.
This is the third Pro Bowl selection for Burns, who is in the midst of a career-best season.
Burns’ 15.0 sacks rank second in the NFL, while his 20 tackles for loss are tied for third. Both are career highs for the seventh-year pro, who is in his second season with the Giants.
The 27-year-old Burns recorded two sacks in Sunday’s 16-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, including a strip sack of J.J. McCarthy that Giants safety Tyler Nubin returned for a touchdown.
The Giants acquired Burns in a March 2024 trade with the Carolina Panthers for a second-round pick and a fifth-round pick, then signed him to a five-year, $141 million contract extension. He has appeared in every game since then, totaling 23.5 sacks over the past two years.
The other outside linebackers on the NFC Pro Bowl roster are Los Angeles Rams teammates Jared Verse and Byron Young.
This is the second year in a row, meanwhile, that the Jets did not receive a Pro Bowl nod in the initial roster announcement. Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams ultimately made last year’s event as a replacement.
This year’s AFC kicker is the Los Angeles Chargers’ Cameron Dicker, who is 36-of-38 (94.7%) on field goals and has not missed an extra point.
He got the spot over Jets kicker Nick Folk, who is 27-for-28 (96.4%) on field goals and is also perfect on extra points.
Williams is again a Pro Bowler, but this time for the Dallas Cowboys, who acquired him in a trade last month during the Jets’ pre-deadline fire sale.
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold, whom the Jets drafted No. 3 overall in 2018, earned a Pro Bowl selection for the second year in a row.
He is joined by the Rams’ Matthew Stafford, who was named the NFC’s starting quarterback, and Dallas’ Dak Prescott.
The AFC quarterbacks are Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, who is the starter, along with the Chargers’ Justin Herbert and Drake Maye of the New England Patriots.
Fans, players and coaches vote for the Pro Bowlers each year. Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce led the fan vote for a second consecutive year.
This will be the fourth year since the Pro Bowl switched to a skills challenge featuring a flag football game instead of a traditional game.
The 2026 Pro Bowl Games are scheduled for Feb. 3 in San Francisco — five days before the Bay Area hosts Super Bowl LX.
