Girl, 16, shot in the head inside building on Manhattan’s Lower East Side

A 16-year-old girl was shot in the head inside a downtown Manhattan building Thursday afternoon, cops said.

Police responded to the scene of an assault around 3:35 p.m. at Stanton and Ridge Sts. on the Lower East Side where they found the teenage girl conscious and alert, with a gunshot wound to the head.

It was unclear what sparked the shooting.

EMS transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital where she was in stable condition.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
