Gwyneth Paltrow has shocking response to rumors of Meghan Markle ‘beef’

Now she knows her.

Gwyneth Paltrow has responded to rumors that she has “beef” with Meghan Markle.

The 52-year-old Goop founder spoke up after gossip spread that she was “throwing shade,” as one social media user put it, at the 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex after posting a video on Instagram Saturday of herself cooking breakfast in her pajamas in her kitchen.

Many analyzed the post and concluded it was filled with subtle digs at Markle, who recently launched her Netflix cooking and lifestyle show, “With Love, Meghan,” as well as her new lifestyle brand, As ever.

Markle’s critics praised Paltrow for being “relatable” and for having the “integrity” to film the video in her own kitchen, unlike the duchess.

“No fake house, fake kitchen, fake hair extensions, fake friends—just your beautiful, true self,” one commenter wrote. “Such a breath of fresh air to see.”

“Gwyneth Paltrow continues to throw shade & I’m here for it!” one person commented on X.

“No makeup in her actual kitchen!” they added, referring to Markle’s choice to film her Netflix show in a staged farmhouse rather than the home she shares with husband Prince Harry, 40.

However, it turns out the Oscar-winning actress, who, like Markle, has a lifestyle series on Netflix, was completely unaware that her post was being interpreted as an attack on Markle.

On Tuesday, after inviting her followers to ask questions on her Instagram story, she addressed one query about the rumored tension between herself and Markle.

“Are you comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have?” the person wrote.

“I genuinely do not understand this,” Paltrow replied, reading the question aloud in a video on her Instagram Story.

Sitting at her kitchen table, she turned to her right and asked, “Do you understand this?”

The “Shakespeare in Love” star then panned her camera to reveal Markle at the table, taking a bite of pie.

The former “Suits” star looked bewildered and shrugged as if to say she had no idea what Paltrow was talking about.

Markle reshared the clip on her own Instagram Story about 15 minutes after Paltrow posted it.

The video appears to have been recorded inside the kitchen of the “Talented Mr. Ripley” star’s home in Montecito, Calif., where Markle and Prince Harry also live.

Paltrow recently revealed to Vanity Fair that, despite their geographic proximity, she doesn’t “know Meghan and Harry” personally.

“I’m surprised, given how close they live,” the April 2025 cover star said. “I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all.”

Notably, Paltrow added, “Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”

It’s not clear what kind of pie she served to the Duchess on Tuesday.

Markle’s new Netflix show has been heavily criticized on social media as inauthentic, with some critics even calling it “an exercise in narcissism.” Despite the heat, the show has been renewed for a Season 2 and placed in Netflix’s Top 10 shows globally in its first week.

“Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try,” Paltrow told Vanity Fair while discussing Markle.

“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes. I think there’s always more than enough to go around.”

“The Royal Tenenbaums” star recalled her mom, actress Blythe Danner, 82, telling her, “Another woman is never your competition … What is right for you will find you.”

Paltrow’s pie summit with Markle may not be so surprising then, as she also said that she has a “strong instinct to stand up for” as she does whenever there is “noise about certain women in the culture.”
