John Reardon is getting candid on his health journey.
The actor, 49, took to Instagram on Tuesday to reveal he was diagnosed with tonsil cancer, sharing a picture of himself dressed up and a second photo of himself in a hospital bed.
“Last night was my first night out after my recovery from tonsil cancer,” Reardon wrote beneath his photos. “Has been a long road between these two pictures and the difference is from the love and support I received from my people in my life.”
Taking a moment to highlight those who have been there for him, the “Hudson & Rex” star shouted out both his parents and his wife of 16 years, Meghan Ory.
“My amazing partner @officialmeghanory for taking on our whole world to help me get better. My brave kids who inspired me. My Dad who took me for a walk everyday even when it was hard for me to get out of bed — and I’m sure hard for him to see his son in pain. My Mom @ocean__cottage who made me soups and ginger honey tea and green juices so I could get calories into my body.”
Reardon also shared his gratitude for his family and friends and the incredible medical team who helped him through his battle with the disease.
“My sister and brother @dr_laura_reardon@marcreardon81 who helped with the kids and the challenges of life when I couldn’t. All my in-laws, who are not just in-laws they are family, who brought food and cookies and talked through challenges with us,” continued the Hallmark vet.
Reardon continued, “Our nanny, our neighbors and everyone who sent food or love and support or messages and kind words and also all the amazing doctors, nurses, technicians, hospital workers, psychologists you are all my heroes and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
Concluding the touching post with a few words of wisdom for his followers, the “Arctic Air” alum said, “Kindness is an underappreciated quality in people. We should never undervalue it. Celebrate it and distribute it as much as possible. It is free and life-changing. Happy Holidays.”
Ory, 42, reposted his message to her own Instagram Stories, giving insight into how in awe of her other half she truly is.
“This man inspires me every day with his strength, his kindness and love that didn’t falter once even when he was in insane pain. You are my hero,” the actress wrote. “So proud of you @johnny_reardon_. And #cancerfree I love you love you love you.”
Reardon’s peers flocked to the comments section to share their support, with actress Michelle Harrison writing, “Love and hugs to your sweet family. What a journey for you all,” while film writer Christie Will Wolf chimed in, “Love you Johnny! What a journey you’ve been on – so amazing to see you on the other side and getting stronger by the day. What a beautiful family you have. what a beautiful soul you are!”
Rounding out the sweet sentiments, the “Once Upon a Time” alum Rebecca Mader sent Reardon well wishes on his recovery: “So happy to hear you’re on the other side. Congratulations! Lots of love to you and yours.”
