The family of late cinematographer Halyna Hutchins has condemned Alec Baldwin and the release of his new reality television show, which recently saw the actor open up about his PTSD and the suicidal thoughts he experienced after the deadly gunfire on the set of his movie, “Rust.”
“The Baldwins,” a new series now airing on TLC, follows the 66-year-old Emmy winner, his wife, Hilaria and the rest of their brood as they navigate life in New York City. It also “celebrates Mr. Baldwin’s joy of being with his children while ignoring the fact that Alec Baldwin took a child away from her parents,” attorney Gloria Allred said in a statement to TMZ.
“That is the painful and actual reality with which Halyna’s parents and sister live each and every day,” Allred continued. She also claimed that Baldwin “never called or tried to contact her parents or sister to say that he was sorry, and to this day he has never taken responsibility for Halyna’s death.”
Hutchins was gearing up to film a scene for the western flick, “Rust,” when she was fatally shot on Oct. 21, 2021. Baldwin had been prepping inside the Bonanza Creek Ranch, in Santa Fe, N.M. — at the time rehearsing a cross draw with his pistol — when the gun unexpectedly discharged. Hutchins, just 42 years old, was killed by the single live round, which also wounded director Joel Souza.
Baldwin, who has maintained that he did not pull the trigger, faced criminal charges in an involuntary manslaughter case, which was ultimately dismissed with prejudice.
During the premiere of his new show, Baldwin’s wife shared that the “30 Rock” star was diagnosed with PTSD after the on-set shooting. She has since revealed Baldwin experienced suicidal thoughts and “survivor’s guilt” following the incident.
“Why is he claiming that he has PTSD?” Allred questioned. “Is his reality show just a veiled attempt to create sympathy for himself with a future jury pool in our civil case? Is this just a shameless attempt to portray him as the real victim in this case?”
The high-profile attorney also called on him to testify on May 9 in the wrongful death civil suit they filed against him in February 2023.
