A creek full of cash.
James Van Der Beek reportedly raised $47K for his cancer battle when he auctioned off his “Dawson’s Creek” merch.
The actor, 48, teamed up with Propstore to give fans the chance to buy his memorabilia from the beloved teen drama in the Winter Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction, which took place Dec. 5 to Dec. 7.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the auction raised nearly $50K.
The payday is going towards the actors’ treatments, as Van Der Beek was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer last year.
“I was healthy,” Van Der Beek told Healthline in August. “I was doing the cold plunge. I was in amazing cardiovascular shape, and I had Stage 3 cancer, and I had no idea.”
The priciest item in the auction was a necklace that Dawson (Van Der Beek) gave to his sometimes love interest Joey (Katie Holmes) on the show, which ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2003. The piece of jewelry went for $26,628.
Van Der Beek and Holmes starred in the show with Michelle Williams and Joshua Jackson.
Decor from Dawson’s bedroom on the show – such as an E.T. action figure – sold for $5,991, and a flannel shirt Dawson wore sold for $2,396.
Van Der Beek shares six children with his wife, Kimberly: Olivia, 14, Joshua, 12, Annabel, 10, Emilia, 8, Gwendolyn, 6, and Jeremiah, 3.
He told People, “I’ve been storing these treasures for years, waiting for the right time to do something with them, and with all of the recent unexpected twists and turns life has presented recently, it’s clear that the time is now.”
He continued, “While I have some nostalgia tugging at me as I part with these items, it feels good to be able to offer them through Propstore’s auction to share with those who have supported my work over the years.”
The “Dawson’s Creek” cast reunited in September to help raise at a charity event set up by Williams. Although Van Der Beek had to miss the table read last-minute due to a stomach illness, his wife recently gushed that the actor is “bouncing back.”
