How much snow fell in the NYC area last night?

New York City received a light dusting of snow overnight Sunday into Monday morning, with 1-2 inches falling across the five boroughs.

Bellerose, Queens, led the city with 2.1 inches of snowfall, according to the National Weather Service. About 1.4 inches of snow fell at John F. Kennedy Airport.

Central Park recorded 1.1 inches, and an inch also fell in Brooklyn, NWS meteorologists said Monday morning. No accumulating snow was measured in the Bronx or Staten Island.

Snowfall was slightly higher across Long Island, with 2.8 inches falling in North Babylon to lead the region, according to the NWS. About 1.5-2.5 inches of snow fell throughout the rest of Nassau and Suffolk counties.

The worst of the snow fell east of the city, while northern and western suburbs hardly tallied any. The most snow in North Jersey was only 1.2 inches in Glen Ridge.

However, the snow was not expected to stick around for long, with temperatures rising above 32 degrees by Monday afternoon. The projected high for Monday was 39 degrees, according to NWS forecasters.

New York had been dealing with an extended cold stretch following a late January snowstorm that dumped more than 10 inches across the city. The city officially tallied 19 deaths due to the cold snap.

Temperatures are expected to rise early this week, with a high of 45 degrees projected for Tuesday and highs expected to remain in the low 40s during the rest of the week. However, the weather is not expected to be pleasant, with rain projected for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
