How to watch the ‘Yellowstone’ series finale: What to know

“Yellowstone” rides off into the sunset this Sunday — and after six years, it’s time to say goodbye to TV’s most beloved ranching family in Montana. Well, sort of.

As fans bid farewell to Taylor Sheridan’s flagship series, there are several spinoffs in the works, including the newly confirmed one that will see Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprise their roles as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler.

The series finale is titled “Life Is A Promise,” with the logline teasing that “the fate of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch is revealed” following Kevin Costner’s character John Dutton’s shocking death.

How to watch the “Yellowstone” finale:

The easiest way you can watch the “Yellowstone” finale will be on the Paramount Network as it airs. This is not to be confused with the streaming service Paramount+. Watching it live on Paramount Network is your best bet — or you can stream it on-demand on Phil after it airs.

If you don’t have regular cable, you’ll have to sign up for a subscription account with Sling. That will allow you to stream cable channels, like Paramount Network, to your laptop or smart TV.

When will the last episode of “Yellowstone” be on Peacock?

While “Yellowstone” Seasons 1-4 and the first half of Season 5A are available to stream on Peacock now, Season 5B — including the finale — won’t likely hit Peacock or any other traditional streaming services until later in 2025.

Who directed the final episode?

Sheridan wrote all the episodes of the hit cowboy series and directed the first season, which aired in 2018. Executive producer Christina Voros directed the first four episodes of Season 5B, and last week’s episode, “Give the World Away,” was directed by executive producer Michael Friedman; however, Sheridan jumps back into the director’s seat for the series finale.

What happened to John Dutton?

There was a long pause between 5A and 5B due to the Hollywood strikes. Costner left the series in June after speculation of an ongoing feud with Sheridan. His character, John Dutton, was killed off in the first episode of 5B by a hit man, and it was made to look like a suicide.

Viewers later learned that Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri), the girlfriend of John’s son Jamie (Wes Bentley), hired the hit man to take John out. But the deaths on the range didn’t end with John.

What “Yellowstone” spinoffs are confirmed?

While it’s believed the flagship series is being put out to pasture, Sheridan has a bevy of “Yellowstone” spinoffs in the works.

There’s a Michelle Pfeiffer one called “The Madison” that also stars Matthew Fox, Kurt Russell and Patrick Adams, while others include “1883” featuring real-life married country duo Tim McGraw and Faith Hill; a Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford prequel, titled “1923”; and “6666,” pronounced “Four Sixes”; and a Matthew McConaughey one called “2024.” Deadline recently confirmed that a spinoff focusing on Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton is happening, too!
