The estranged daughter of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan and his ex-wife Linda says she last spoke to her father nearly two years before his death on Thursday morning.
Brooke Hogan has reportedly been confiding in people close to her that her final conversation with her dad was in September 2023, just weeks before he married his third wife, sources told TMZ.
Brooke, the first born child of the legendary wrestler, has long had issues with her family. In March of this year, she publicly confirmed she had cut off contact with her parents, accusing them of lies, manipulation and years of verbal and physical abuse, all while benefitting financially off her “suffering and embarrassment.”
The family’s intense and sometimes dysfunctional dynamic was chronicled on the VH1 reality series “Hogan Knows Best” from 2005 to 2007. Linda filed for divorce from Hulk one month after show’s finale citing “infidelities,” including what she later claimed was an affair with Brooke’s former best friend.
The family drama was making headlines again years later, when a leaked audio transcript featured Hulk making racist slurs about Brooke’s relationship with a Black man.
“I have been asked to defend poor behavior to the public and have done so out of love,” Brooke shared in her March statement, while remaining vague in the details of her allegations. “I so badly wanted to see the good in them … [but] each individual, on their own, has given me more than enough reasons over the years to make this extremely hard and painful decision to end contact.”
But despite their estrangement, Brooke reportedly expressed love for her father the last time they spoke, and worried he was working too hard as his tired body aged.
While her concern was allegedly not well-received, sources told TMZ she’s grateful she had one final chance to tell her dad she loved him. They said Brooke is currently at peace knowing she did everything she could to repair the relationship prior to Hogan’s death.
The hulking 6-foot-7, 320-lb. wrestling superstar died on Thursday at age 71 from what’s believed to have been cardiac arrest. His death came about a month after he was treated for neck and back pain as rumors swirled online that he was hospitalized and “might not make it.”
As of Thursday evening, Brooke had not issued a public statement on her father’s death.
