Human remains found at Greenwich, CT construction site

Human remains found at a Connecticut construction site last week have prompted an investigation by multiple agencies, police confirmed on Tuesday.

The discovery came on Sept. 18, during the course of a normal workday, when workers came across “what appeared to be human remains after soil was disturbed by an excavator,” the Greenwich Police Department said.

The exact location of the find was not provided.

The skeletal remains were carefully collected from the scene by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which is currently conducting further examination.

Preliminary information “indicates the remains are of considerable age,” investigators said, but gave no additional information. Any other updates will be provided by the medical examiner as they become available.

The Connecticut State Police is assisting the Greenwich Police Department in the investigation.

Greenwich is located about 40 miles northeast of New York City.
