Journalist and Princess Diana’s former biographer Tina Brown has given a scathing review of Meghan Markle’s “With Love, Meghan” show, saying she has an “unerring instinct for getting it wrong.”
Brown, who served as the editor-in-chief of Vanity Fair from 1986 to 1992, said the Duchess of Sussex has “never figured out a convincing persona” after watching her latest Netflix series, which has already been renewed for Season 2.
The “Suits” alum, 43, released her eight-part series on the streaming platform last week. But despite its streaming success, the project has been met with largely disappointing reviews from critics.
According to Brown, the only show that would have worked would’ve been if Markle admitted “what a flaming flop the last five years have been.”
“Who announces a new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, and hounds celebrity friends to talk up her strawberry jam on social media, without doing due diligence on the availability of the trademark?” Brown asked.
In her Substack newsletter, titled Fresh Hell, she added that the former working royal is “impatient” and always “behind the curve.”
Additionally, Brown slammed Markle and her husband Prince Harry’s decision to partner with Netflix after sensationally quitting royal life in 2020.
“All Meghan had to do was shut up and wait,” Brown writes. “Go quiet for a couple of years, start a family, keep her eyes trained on the splendid royal real estate that would soon come up for grabs.”
“The moment William ascended to his role as Prince of Wales, there would have been new global gigs and red carpet roll-outs raining down on the Sussexes’ heads. But no. Offered the Commonwealth or Netflix, the Sussexes, with naïve avarice, chose Netflix,” she added.
“What Harry and Meghan forgot was that the great thing about being royal is you can be as boring as f–k for as long as you live and still be treated as the most important person in the room,” Brown went on.
“The only reason any of these deals were signed was for lowdown dish on the royals, and Meghan, in another fit of vainglorious yearning — this time for a sit-down with TV’s ultimate deity — gave that away to Oprah for free, infuriating Netflix, whose multimillion-dollar deal got them sloppy seconds.”
It’s not the first time the journalist, who has also worked as the former chief of Tatler, shared her criticism of the former actress.
In October, Brown sensationally said that the mom of two is “flawless about getting it all wrong” and has “the worst judgment of anyone in the entire world.”
In 2022, Brown released “The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor, the Truth and the Turmoil.”
And in 2007, her Princess Diana biography titled “The Diana Chronicles” became a New York Times best seller.
