Here’s Johnny.
Anjelica Huston, 73, revealed that her ex, Jack Nicholson, 87, called to offer her his house to stay at while she was fleeing the LA wildfires in January.
“The phone just rang out of nowhere, and it was him,” Huston told People in an interview published Thursday.
“It’s always a comfort when he calls… It was heartbreakingly sweet,” she went on. “I’ve gone back over it — several times in my head, and I think next time I’d accept the invitation.”
“The Shining” actor and the “Addams Family” actress were in a relationship for nearly 20 years, from 1973 to 1990.
During that time, they co-starred in the films “Prizzi’s Honor,” “The Last Tycoon” and “The Postman Always Rings Twice.”
In 1992, following her split with Nicholson, Huston married sculptor Robert Graham, who died in 2008 at age 70.
Following his relationship with Huston, Nicholson was involved with Rebecca Broussard, and then Laura Flynn Boyle.
The “Chinatown” actor has six children — including actors Lorraine Nicholson and Ray Nicholson — with five different women. He didn’t have children with Huston.
Huston and Nicholson split after she learned he fathered a child with Broussard while he was still dating Huston. But, they remain on good terms.
Huston told the outlet that her friendship with Nicholson is “important.”
But, she added that “life gets in the way” of visiting him often.
“Also, for some reason, they’ve been doing endless rerouting and road work near his house, so it takes hours to get to him, and that’s always irritating. I always managed to be late going to see him, which is very irritating for him.”
In an interview with The Guardian published in February, Huston elaborated about her experience during the LA wildfires, which devastated the area in January.
“I was in a car with three dogs, two cats, and the housekeeper, and he called and asked if I was all right, and if I had someplace I was staying,” she said about Nicholson.
She told the outlet that she was aware of his infidelity during their relationship.
“I loved him,” Huston said. “I think in the world that I was living in, it wasn’t disrespectful. It was how he was, and it wasn’t so personal.”
The Oscar-winning actress added, “I think as soon as I clocked that, it was all right, I knew how to protect myself. It didn’t make me happy, but I knew what I was doing. I did what I wanted to do, and I did it with sureness. If I wanted something, I knew how to go after it, so it wasn’t as though anything was being done to me. I wasn’t a wilting flower.”
Although Huston had to evacuate during the LA wildfires – which devastated thousands of people and claimed the homes of celebs like Anthony Hopkins and Joshua Jackson – her home survived.
“My house almost burned down,” Huston said. “It came very, very close. My electricity and water and power are still off, but we were safe.”
Huston is still going strong in her career, as she’s in “Agatha Christie’s Towards Zero,” premiering April 16 on BritBox.
Nicholson hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2010’s “How Do You Know,” and is mostly retired. But, the “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” actor made a surprise rare public appearance at the “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary special in February.
He sat in the audience, and briefly appeared on camera to introduce a sketch from his former “Anger Management” co-star Adam Sandler.
Huston told The Guardian about Nicholson, “That’s the bottom line with he and I – when the chips are down, he’s there.”
