Jamie Foxx gets candid about medical scare in Netflix special

He’s back!

In his new Netflix comedy special, “What Had Happened Was …,” Jamie Foxx revealed shocking new details about his headline-grabbing 2023 health scare.

The Oscar winner, 56, said that he had a “brain bleed that led to a stroke.”

“April 11, I was having a bad headache, and I asked my boy for a Aspirin. I realized quickly that when you’re in a medical emergency, your boys don’t know what the f–k to do,” Foxx recalled.

“Before I could get the Aspirin [clicks his fingers] I went out. I don’t remember 20 days,” he added.

Foxx explained that his friends took him to a doctor in Atlanta where he was given a cortisone shot and sent home.

“What the f–k is that?” he said. “I don’t know if you can do Yelps for doctors, but that’s half a star.”

The “Django Unchained” star revealed that his sister, Deidra Dixon, was still concerned about his health and brought him to Piedmont Hospital, which was near where he filmed the Netflix special.

At Piedmont, a doctor told Dixon the “horrible news” that Foxx was “having a brain bleed that has led to a stroke” and would die if he didn’t immediately go into surgery.

Foxx said it “was kind of oddly peaceful” being unconscious at the time. “I saw the tunnel. I didn’t see the light,” he said, before joking, It was hot in that tunnel. Shit, am I going to the wrong place in this motherf—er? Because I looked at the end of the tunnel, and I thought I saw the Devil like, ‘C’mon.’ Or is that Puffy [Sean Combs]?”

After his surgery, doctors told Foxx’s sister that he “may be able to make a full recovery, but it’s going to be the worst year of his life.” Foxx added, “That’s what it was.”

Foxx revealed that he woke up on May 4, 2023 and discovered he was in a wheelchair, which he couldn’t comprehend. He said he refused to be bathed by the nurses during his recovery. “I couldn’t wipe my own ass,” Foxx said.

“What Had Happened Was …” was filmed in October during a three-show stint in Atlanta, which also happened to be where he was hospitalized last year.

After the shows were recorded, two individuals who attended the performances came forward claiming that Foxx said Sean “Diddy” Combs was allegedly responsible for his hospitalization and that he called the FBI on the mogul.

However, one attendee told Page Six that Foxx denied Diddy was responsible for his medical problems. “People keep asking me if Diddy was responsible,” the person claimed Foxx said. “He was not responsible. If he was, I would’ve been dead.”

Combs was arrested in September on charges of sex trafficking, racketeering and transportation to engage in prostitution. In an unsealed indictment, US Attorneys accused the rapper of hosting “freak off” sex parties where he would allegedly force women to have sex with male prostitutes, often plying them with drugs, while he recorded the sessions.

Foxx previously peppered the public with only a few details about the “medical complication” he suffered before his comedy special.

“Some people said I was blind. But as you can see, the eyes are working. The eyes are working just fine,” he said in an Instagram video posted in July 2023. “I’m not paralyzed. But I went to hell and back, and my road to recovery had some potholes as well. But I’m coming back, and I’m able to work.”

During an awards celebration last year, Fox reportedly revealed that he “couldn’t actually walk” without assistance six months prior.

Earlier this year, Foxx told a group of people in Phoenix, “Look, April 11 last year, bad headache, asked my boy for an Advil. I was gone for 20 days.”

On Monday, Foxx earned a Golden Globe nomination for his new comedy special.

Foxx has another Netflix project on the horizon, “Back in Action,” an action comedy in which he and Cameron Diaz star as a pair of suburban spies. The movie drops early next year.

Foxx was filming the flick when his health scare happened.

“What Had Happened Was …” is now available to stream on Netflix.
