Jane Lynch opens up about ‘Glee’ reunion on ‘Celeb Weakest Link’

Sue Sylvester returned.

Jane Lynch had a “Glee” reunion with several former co-stars in the “Celebrity Weakest Link” season premiere (Mondays on Fox at 9 p.m.), and told The Post, “I was thrilled. I put the tracksuit on again.”

Lynch, 65, was referring to the outfit her “Glee” character, Sue Sylvester, wore. “They actually had to make me one because the one I used to have, I gave away to an auction,” she revealed.

Lynch hosted a “Weakest Link” revival that ran on NBC from 2020 to 2024, and now, she has moved over to Fox to host the continued iteration of the show, “Celebrity Weakest Link.”

The “Glee” reunion episode on Sept. 15 saw her reunite with Chord Overstreet, Becca Tobin, Heather Morris, Dot-Marie Jones, Jenna Ushkowitz, Amber Riley, Max Adler and Alex Newell.

They all starred on the Fox musical show, which aired for over 100 episodes from 2009 to 2015.

“The 40-Year-Old Virgin” actress said she was especially surprised by how well Overstreet and Morris did, because their “characters in the show were kind of dim.”

“I guess I probably protected them,” she added. “I thought they were great. They surprised me. They were wonderful.”

Among her former co-stars, Lynch said, she’s in touch with Morris and Tobin, “I see Chord, I see Dot. Matt [Morrison] wasn’t on [Celebrity Weakest Link], he’s out touring, but I still consider him a good friend.”

The cast of “Glee” have had disparate career trajectories since the show ended – Cory Monteith tragically died at age 31 during production in 2013; Jonathan Groff, Lea Michele, and Darren Criss have become Broadway stars; Morrison appeared on “So You Think You Can Dance.”

When asked about her ex-colleagues’ different paths, Lynch said, “I mean, the talent always rises to the top…… Becca’s got a great podcast. Lea is doing gangbusters. Darren has just soared. I think talent wins out.”

Lynch also had a stint on Hulu’s hit “Only Murders in the Building,” appearing as Sazz Pataki for several episodes through the show’s run – until she was the murder victim at the end of Season 3.

She recalled Steve Martin as being the “nicest man in the world, and so is Martin Short.”

“Steve is the kindest, most mellow, charming, and funny guy. We live [near each other] too, so we have dinner together and it’s lovely.”

In the upcoming episodes of “Celebrity Weakest Link,” Lynch said that she was surprised by “Parenthood” actress Monica Potter.

“Monica Potter is in the TV Moms episode, and she looks like she’s spacey and kind of out of it. She didn’t seem connected, but she was brilliant. I thought, ‘This is gonna be good because she’ll be funny,’ but there were a couple rounds where she answered every question correctly, that doesn’t happen. She surprised me. She leads you to believe she’s confused, and she’s razor sharp,” Lynch explained.

The star confessed, however, that she puts on a persona as the game show host.

“You know, I act like I love it, my [game show host] character kind of relishes telling people to take a hike [when they’re sent home]. But inside, I don’t feel great.”

She added, “But we do it all in good fun. Everybody knows the gig, nobody takes it personally.”
