Jennifer Aniston has never been interested in adoption.
The “Friends” alum, 56, appeared on the new episode of the “Armchair Expert” podcast and opened up about her unsuccessful journey to having kids, admitting that she feels “peaceful” with not being a mom.
“But I will say there’s a point where it’s like out of my control,” she shared. “There’s literally nothing I can do about it.”
“When people say, ‘But you can adopt,’ I don’t want to adopt,” Aniston continued. “I want my own DNA in a little person. That’s the only way, selfish or not, whatever that is, I’ve wanted it.”
The Emmy Award winner, whose exes include Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux, explained that while there’s been moments that she met someone and thought they “would have made some good kids,” that sentiment would often “pass within three seconds.”
“It just wasn’t in the plan, whatever the plan was,” she said of having kids. “It’s very emotional, especially in the moment when they say ‘that’s it,’ because there is a weird moment when that happens.”
During a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Aniston explained that she spent 20 years trying to have children, including undergoing in vitro fertilization.
“They didn’t know my story, or what I’d been going through over the past 20 years to try to pursue a family, because I don’t go out there and tell them my medical woes,” she told the publication. “That’s not anybody’s business.”
“But there comes a point when you can’t not hear it – the narrative about how I won’t have a baby, won’t have a family, because I’m selfish, a workaholic,” Aniston continued. “It does affect me – I’m just a human being. We’re all human beings. That’s why I thought, ‘What the hell?’ ”
The “Morning Show” actress first revealed she spent years undergoing IVF in 2022.
“I was trying to get pregnant. It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road,” she told Allure Magazine at the time.
“It was really hard. I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it,” Aniston went on. “I was throwing everything at it. I would’ve given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs. Do yourself a favor.’ You just don’t think it. So here I am today. The ship has sailed.”
Aniston was married to Pitt, 61, from 2000 to 2005 and Theroux, 54, from 2015 to 2017. She’s currently in a relationship with hypnotist Jim Curtis.
“Her close friends love him. He’s amazing to be around,” an insider told People in Sept. of Aniston’s new romance. “He has this really calm and secure energy. Jen loves it.”
The source added that Curtis “feels different” than Aniston’s famous past exes.
