Jennifer Aniston to play Jennette McCurdy’s mom in memoir adaptation

Jennifer Aniston is set to bring Jennette McCurdy’s memoir “I’m Glad My Mom Died” to life, starring in an upcoming series as the former child actor’s mother.

The Apple TV+ adaptation will “center on the codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kid’s show, and her narcissistic mother who relishes in her identity as ‘a starlet’s mother,’” according to the show’s logline.

McCurdy, who will serve as co-showrunner of the upcoming series, instantly became a bestselling author when her memoir was released in 2022.

The former “iCarly” star’s book detailed her abusive relationship with her mother, reflections on childhood stardom, and how she processed her mom’s narcissistic behavior after her death in 2013. The book spent over 80 weeks on the New York Times Bestsellers list.

As for Aniston, she will also executive produce the 10-episode dramedy in addition to taking on the role of McCurdy’s momager.

The “Friends” alum is also set to release the much anticipated fourth season of “The Morning Show” with the streamer on Sept. 17.

McCurdy has officially retired from acting and decided not to appear in the “iCarly” revival series for Paramount+.

“I think things should feel natural. So much of my life was about forcing or pushing things,” she told the New York Times in 2022. “So when something feels like it’s working, I’ll let that be, and anything else can fall by the wayside.”
