Tanya would like a word with the manager.
Jennifer Coolidge didn’t mince words about Greg (Jon Gries) returning to “The White Lotus” in Season 3 of the hit HBO show. And, yes — she’s watching.
“Jon Gries has shown up,” Coolidge, 63, told Forbes in an interview published Feb. 27.
“I hope he gets it!” she added. “I hope they do something terrible to him.”
When asked if she’s watching Season 3, the Emmy-winning actress said “Yes, I am. And I’m envious as hell.”
Each season of the series (which has already been renewed for a Season 4) follows a new cast of characters on vacation in a new branch of the titular fictional “White Lotus” resort.
Season 1 was set in Hawaii, Season 2 was in Sicily and Season 3 is in Thailand. Season 3’s stars include Walton Goggins, Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs and Patrick Schwarzenegger. Each season follows unhappy rich people on a vacation that ends with at least one death – and the fatality isn’t revealed until the end.
But, a few stray characters and plot lines carry over. In the first two seasons, it was the delusional and self-absorbed heiress Tanya McQuoid (Coolidge) before she died at the end of Season 2.
Tanya met her demise while falling off a boat trying to escape men who she thought were trying to kill her. The scene spawned the often-quoted line, “These gays, they’re trying to murder me!”
Greg was her husband who was scheming to kill her for her money.
Season 3 revealed that Greg is now living near the Thailand branch of the White Lotus under the name Gary and he’s dating Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon), who has befriended Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood).
When asked if she’d want to return to the show somehow — maybe as Tanya’s twin — Coolidge said, “Look, it’s not like I haven’t wished or whatever, but it isn’t happening. It doesn’t matter — they don’t need me. [Creator] Mike White can tell a story better than anybody.”
The “Legally Blonde” star also weighed in on what she thinks of Season 3 so far.
“I just felt like everything [creator Mike White set up — it’s really eerie — you’re not quite sure what people are up to yet. My guess? Something’s going to go horribly wrong. I think it’s really going to go wrong.”
“The White Lotus” airs Sundays (9 p.m.) on HBO and Max.
