Kissy kissy, Miss Piggy’s name will be in lights as Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone and Cole Escola bring the beloved Muppet back to the big screen.
Lawrence told Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ “Las Culturistas” podcast this week that she and Stone will team up with historic Tony winner Escola to revamp the Jim Henson favorite.
“I don’t know if I can announce this, but I’m just going to … Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie and Cole is writing it,” said the “Hunger Games” alum, though she didn’t provide any details on the plot of the film.
Earlier this year, “Hacks” producer Escola made history as the first openly non-binary performer to win the Tony for Best Actor in a Play for “Oh, Mary!” — the hit production they also penned, earning a Best Play nomination.
Miss Piggy, the puppet diva to rival them all, earned her star power with the 1976 arrival on “The Muppet Show.” She was voiced at the time by Frank Oz, best known for lending his vocal prowess to Yoda from the “Star Wars” series.
Oz, 81, also played Miss Piggy — as well as Fozzie Bear and Animal — during her 1979 big screen debut, “The Muppet Movie.” He last played Piggy in a 2007 video.
Miss Piggy last enjoyed the cinematic spotlight in 2014’s “Muppets Most Wanted,” opposite Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey.
Lawrence’s reveal this week follows the September news that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg will produce a Disney+ “Muppet Show” reboot, featuring Sabrina Carpenter, to honor the 50th anniversary next year.
