Jennifer Lopez reacts to ex Ben Affleck calling her ‘spectacular’

Jennifer Lopez avoided talking directly about estranged husband Ben Affleck while reacting to his latest compliment for her.

Affleck, 52, said in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight that Lopez, 55, “is spectacular” in their new movie “Unstoppable.”

While attending the “Unstoppable” UK premiere on Tuesday, Lopez was told about the comment by an ET reporter, who asked her how she’d “describe his producing.”

In response, the “Dance Again” singer showed love to the entire cast and crew of the film, rather than just her estranged husband.

“I would describe all of the cast and everybody behind the scenes as spectacular and wonderful,” she said.

Affleck similarly praised the entire “Unstoppable” team during his own ET interview days before the UK premiere, which he did not attend.

“‘Unstoppable’ is a very different movie than this, but in a way, it’s similarly rooted in the passion of really talented artists,” he said while promoting his new flick “Small Things Like These,” adding, “It speaks to a certain kind of thing I guess we’re drawn to. We really believe in the power of storytelling when the people involved in it are deeply connected to the story.”

“We believed in the right people, and Unstoppable is another example of that.”

“Unstoppable” tells the true story of wrestler Anthony Robles, who was born with one leg and defied expectations to win a national collegiate wrestling championship in 2011.

Lopez plays Robles’ mother. The rest of the cast includes Jharrel Jerome (as Robles), Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle and Michael Peña.

Affleck and his best friend Matt Damon produced “Unstoppable” via their production company, Artists Equity.

The director, William Goldenberg, gave insight into Affleck and Lopez’s dynamic making the movie after their breakup at Toronto International Film Festival in September.

“It’s always been about the movie, and that’s their personal business,” he told E! News. “We just kept it about the movie. We just kept her eye on the prize.”

Lopez filed for divorce on Aug. 20, the anniversary of the former couple’s second wedding ceremony.

She listed their date of separation as April 26.

Before their split, Affleck spoke about how much he loved working with his then-wife on “Unstoppable.”

“What fun, what a joy to do something with her, see her be great, go to work with your wife, go to work with your best friend,” he told CBS Sunday Mornings in March 2023.

The former couple teamed up on another upcoming film, “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” an adaptation of the 1992 musical that was based on the 1976 novel.

They co-produced the movie and Lopez also stars in the lead role. She was in New York working on the film the day of her official split from Affleck (April 26).

After Lopez filed for divorce, a report claimed that the singer did everything she could to make Affleck “happy” during their marriage, but she had to deal with his “dark” side.

An insider also claimed Affleck’s “erratic mood swings” contributed to their split.

“The world was rooting for them,” the source added, “but who he said he was and who he turned out to be were two different people.”
