Quinta Brunson was shameless over that Jeremy Allen White comment.
While on the red carpet at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday, “Saturday Night Live” member Ego Nwodim asked White, 34, if he saw the most recent episode in which “we shouted you out in [Quinta Brunson’s] monologue.”
In fact, “The Bear” star did hear Brunson, 35 — who is 4 feet, 11 inches tall — talk about other celebrities of a short stature, including White, who is 5 feet, 7 inches.
Not only that, “I was there,” he responded.
During Brunson’s opening remarks on the late-night sketch show, the “Abbott Elementary” actress excitedly announced that she is “proof you can do anything you put your mind to, even if people look down on you… Whether it’s because of where you come from or literally because you’re only 4 feet, 11 inches.”
Sabrina Carpenter — who is 5 feet tall — joined her onstage to sing a song praising other petite stars in the industry like Simone Biles (4 feet, 8 inches) and Tom Holland (5 feet, 7 inches).
“It’s how we like our movies, and how we like our margins,” they sang in unison. “We’ve been the same height since kindergarten.”
“Yeah, I was there, but it was funny. You all invited me, and then they gave me a heads up, like, ‘We’re not inviting you to make fun of you,’” White explained to Nwodim, 37, who was stunned.
“We have to get you to host at some point,” the comic quipped, to which the “Shameless” alum stated, “I want to come.”
Brunson and White have taken the comedy world by storm, with Brunson creating and starring in the Emmy award-winning show “Abbott Elementary.” The ABC series follows a group of teachers at a Philadelphia school.
White, for his part, stars in Hulu’s “The Bear” about the staff at a sandwich shop in Chicago. The series has won 11 Emmy awards in its three seasons on air.
Brunson’s monologue — which was all in good fun — comes on the heels of Aimee Lou Wood calling out the NBC sketch comedy for their parody of “The White Lotus.”
During the skit, labeled “The White Potus,” Sarah Sherman, 32, portrayed Wood’s character, Chelsea, by doing a British accent and wearing prosthetic teeth.
The “SNL” sketch poked fun at Donald Trump and his tariffs, using the characters from Season 3 of the HBO show to portray a family scene.
James Austin Johnson played Trump, Fineman portrayed Melania Trump, while Mikey Day was Donald Trump Jr.
Alex Moffat took on the role of Eric Trump, Scarlett Johansson was Ivanka Trump, Jon Hamm played Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Beck Bennett was Putin.
Shortly after it aired, Wood took to her Instagram Stories, writing: “I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny.”
“Such a shame cuz I had such a great time watching it a couple weeks ago,” she expressed in a follow-up post. “Yes, take the piss for sure — that’s what the show is about — but there must be a cleverer, more nuanced, less cheap way?”
“On a positive note, everyone is agreeing with me about it so I’m glad I said something instead of going in on myself.”
Fans seemed to rally around the hurt star, as a third post she shared read: “Omg I’ve got THOUSANDS of messages in agreement with me since posting that. Thanks guys. Glad I said something.”
Wood updated followers two hours later, sharing, “I’ve had apologies from SNL.”

“SNL” star Chloe Fineman reflected on the scene earlier this month, telling Entertainment Tonight: “You know, we make stuff with love.”
“I wasn’t writing the skit,” she continued. “I wasn’t necessarily a decision-maker in any of that. But I know Sarah [Sherman] and I absolutely worship her. I tried to have Amy the week before in something. And I just, like, worship her and know that it was from love and we’ve moved on.”
