Jessica Alba reflects on filming ‘very humiliating’ nude scene for ‘Fantastic Four

For Jessica Alba, things weren’t so fantastic.

The actress, 44, got candid about shooting the 2005 superhero movie “Fantastic Four” while at the Red Sea Film Festival on Friday, sharing that her “least favorite scene” was when her character Sue Storm appeared naked over a bridge.

“I thought that was awful,” she recalled. “It was very humiliating in real life. I grew up with a pretty conservative family, and I am a pretty modest person. I dreaded that scene for weeks. I have a lot of whiplash from those days.”

But despite that moment in the film, Alba “loved” how Sue cut down gender stereotypes.

“She was a woman I looked up to,” the “Honey” star admitted. “She was very maternal and very kind, but also not a pushover; she spoke her mind.

“She had a great moral compass. No matter who you are, you can look up to her. Oftentimes, the women in these stories need to be saved by a guy or the villain, the problem in the story. This was back then. It’s different now.”

“Fantastic Four” also starred Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Ioan Gruffudd and the late Julian McMahon.

When asked if she had watched Vanessa Kirby’s performance in 2025’s “Fantastic Four: First Steps,” Alba revealed she has yet to see the movie.

“I usually watch those movies with my kids, and if ‘Sonic’ was out, my son wants to watch it 85 times in a row,” she confessed. “When it comes to movies that are for the family, my kids dominate what we watch for sure. But I have to convince him because we have to see it! I love Marvel, and they’re so fun.”

These days, Alba is focused on her production company, Lady Metalmark Entertainment.

The Honest founder expressed that her goal is to “change minds” about diversity on screen.

“Growing up, I didn’t see a lot of diversity in storytelling,” Alba explained, noting that while she doesn’t “blame Hollywood” she does want to make a difference.

“When you have a lot of white guys in charge, they feel most comfortable telling stories through their lens,” the actress continued. “They don’t know you. They didn’t grow up with a woman who grew up like me. Frankly, many of them didn’t have women [in their lives] who were strong, not just running the household but making an income. We still don’t have a lot of female leadership, but as a woman of color, I don’t see the boundaries that they may see.”

Meanwhile, earlier this year, Alba revealed she had split from her husband of Cash Warren after 16 years of marriage.

The two first met on the Vancouver set of “Fantastic Four.”

“I’ve been on a journey of self realization and transformation for years – both as an individual and in partnership with Cash,” she wrote on Instagram in January.

“I’m proud of how we’ve grown in our marriage over the last 20 years and it’s now time for us to embark on a new chapter of growth and evolution as individuals.”

Giving a nod to their three kids, daughters Honor, 17, Haven, 14, and son Hayes, 7, Alba added, “We are moving forward with love, kindness and respect for each other and will forever be family. Our children remain our highest priority and we request privacy at this time.”

In August, Warren, 46, stepped out with his new girlfriend, model Hana Sun Doerr, 25, for the first time.

The UCLA graduate and the actor have been spotted out on numerous dates around Los Angeles since.

For her part, Alba is dating actor Danny Ramirez, 33.

“She’s been testing the waters with Danny,” a source told People in July. “It’s still casual, but there is a connection.”

“She was trying to keep it quiet, but after they were photographed returning from Cancún, she doesn’t feel the need to hide it anymore,” the insider continued. “She enjoys dating him. She’s pretty unapologetic about her life just in general and wants to enjoy as much as possible.”
