A week after Frank Reich became offensive coordinator, Gang Green coach Aaron Glenn finalized his offensive staff.
On Tuesday, the Jets named Bill Musgrave as their new quarterbacks coach.
They have also added Alfredo Roberts (tight ends coach), Thomas Merkle (offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks coach), Al Netter (assistant offensive line coach), Matthew Sargent (offensive assistant) and Seth Ryan (pass game coordinator) to their coaching staff.
Musgrave, 58, has coached for nearly 30 years at both the NFL and collegiate level. Most recently, he served as the Browns’ quarterback coach last season after he was the team’s senior offensive assistant for two seasons.
Musgrave has served as an offensive coordinator or quarterback coach for nine organizations (Raiders, Broncos, Eagles, Panthers, Jaguars, Falcons, Vikings, Browns and Washington).
Roberts, 60, spent the previous five seasons with the Steelers as their tight ends coach. He has also worked as a tight ends coach for the Chargers, Browns, Jaguars, Buccaneers and Colts.
Merkle was Reich’s quarterback coach at Stanford last season. Before that, he spent five seasons as a grad assistant and quality control analyst for the Cardinal.
Netter and Sargent were also both on Reich’s coaching staff during his lone season as Stanford’s interim coach. Netter was the offensive line coach after he was previously the co-offensive line coach from 2023-24. He was also a graduate assistant (2015-17) for three seasons under current Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh while the two were at Michigan. Sargent was an offensive assistant at Stanford.
Ryan, 31, son of former Jets coach Rex Ryan, was previously confirmed to join the Jets offensive staff last weekend. He was an assistant wide receiver coach on the Lions coaching staff from 2021-24. Glenn was also Detroit’s defensive coordinator during the same period. Ryan was moved to Lions assistant tight ends coach last season.
In the weeks following a disappointing 3-14 season, Glenn made wholesale changes to his offensive staff. The Jets finished 29th in yards (263.6) and points per game (17.6).
Glenn fired quarterback coach Charles London, defensive line coach Eric Washington and passing game coordinator Scott Turner. He also fired linebacker coach Aaron Curry and defensive assistants Alonso Escalante and Roosevelt Williams.
