Jets sign center Josh Myers to two-year contract extension

Josh Myers signed a one-year, $2 million contract with the Jets in March.

Before the 2025 season ends, Gang Green is rewarding Myers for his play.

The Jets have signed Myers to a two-year contract extension, keeping him under contract until after the 2027 season. The extension is for $11 million, with a $6 million guarantee, according to ESPN.

Myers, 27, was drafted by the Packers in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He played four seasons in Green Bay before signing with the Jets.

With Joe Tippmann already in place, the Jets signed Myers to compete for the starting center spot and to provide flexibility in case an injury occurred. But before the start of the season, Myers became the Jets’ starting center after injuries forced a rapid reconfiguration of interior line.

Right guard Alijah Vera-Tucker had season-ending triceps surgery days before the Jets’ Week 1 game against the Steelers and Tippmann moved from center to right guard. Since that point, the Jets have had the same starting five offensive linemen (Olu Fashanu, John Simpson, Myers, Tippmann, and Armand Membou) for all 13 games. They are the only team in the NFL that can claim that honor this season.

Myers has allowed just one sack and committed seven penalties. But he ranks 37th among 38 centers (53.6) according to Pro Football Focus and the 29th best center in pass blocking metrics (56.9).

With Myers now locked up, the Jets have four of their five starting offensive linemen under contract for the 2026 season. The only position that isn’t locked up for next season is the left guard spot, which Simpson occupies.

Both Simpson and Vera-Tucker will both be free agents following this season, and the Jets could decide to keep one or find a new guard altogether. Vera-Tucker has had three season-ending injuries in four seasons [Achilles and two torn triceps]. Simpson has been one of the offensive leaders, but has committed nine penalties, which is the third most in the NFL this season.
