Jim Parsons, Deborah Cox, Frankie Grande to star in Broadway’s ‘Titanique’

Jim Parsons, Deborah Cox and Frankie Grande are all returning to Broadway for the upcoming transfer of the hit musical comedy spoofing Céline Dion and “Titanic,” the 1997 Hollywood blockbuster for which she sang the Oscar-winning theme song.

“Titanique,” which has been playing Off-Broadway and around the world for three years, is set to take sail on a 16-week run at New York City’s St. James Theater beginning March 26.

On Thursday, producers announced the casting of Parsons, the Emmy-winning star of “The Big Bang Theory,” who was last seen on Broadway in the 2024 Kenny Leon-helmed revival of “Our Town.” Parsons also starred in “Mother Play,” “The Boys in the Band” and had a theatrical breakthrough with the 2011 revival of “The Normal Heart.” In a gender-bending twist from his previous work, he will portray the role of Rose’s mother, Ruth DeWitt Bukater.

Cox starred as Glinda the Good Witch and co-produced the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of “The Wiz” in 2024. She previously starred in “Aida,” and “Jekyll and Hyde.” The Grammy-nominated “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here” singer will play the Unsinkable Molly Brown in the Tye Blue-directed production.

Grande — a theater vet who’s also known as the brother of pop superstar Ariana Grande — originated the role of Victor Garber in the original cast of the 2022 Off-Broadway staging of “Titanique.” The reality TV sensation previously appeared in original productions of “Rock of Ages” and “Mamma Mia!

They all join the previously announced Marla Mindelle playing Celine Dion, whose hits “My Heart Will Go On,” “All By Myself,” and “To Love You More” serve as the backdrop to the wild story about the pop diva being a survivor of the iconic ship’s sinking.

From its humble beginnings, “Titanique” grew in popularity and moved to Union Square’s Daryl Roth Theatre before launching international productions in London’s West End, Sydney, Toronto, Montréal, Chicago, Paris, and São Paulo.

The Olivier Award-winning musical is co-written by Blue, Mindelle and Constantine Rousouli, who also stars in the show in the Jack Dawson/Leonardo DiCaprio role.
