Jodie Foster refused to make cameo in ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel

Jodie Foster isn’t feeling freaky.

The Oscar winner, 62, allegedly declined to make a cameo appearance in the upcoming “Freaky Friday” sequel with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis — after starring in the original 1976 movie that kicked off the body-swapping franchise.

“We begged her,” said “Freakier Friday” director Nisha Ganatra in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“She’s not going to do it,” Ganatra, 50, added about Foster.

The Post has reached out to Foster’s rep for comment.

Nearly 30 years later, Curtis, 66, and Lohan, 38, starred in the 2003 remake as a mother-daughter duo who switch bodies. They’re returning for “Freakier Friday,” which comes out this summer.

Ganatra told EW she “never found out why” Foster didn’t want to be in the sequel.

“I think we were going to make her the principal at the school,” Ganatra shared. She explained that there were talks of replacing Anna’s (Lohan) principal, Mr. Bates, with Foster “when we didn’t know if [Stephen Tobolowsky] would come back.”

“Honestly, we tried everything,” the filmmaker added. “We were like, ‘What about this?’”

Andrew Gunn, a producer on the remake, previously revealed that he wanted Foster to play the mother role in the 2003 film, but the actress declined because she was concerned her casting would be a distraction, according to E! News.

“Freakier Friday,” set 22 years after the events of the 2003 film, will see Anna and Tess (Curtis) swap bodies with Anna’s daughter, Harper (Julia Butters), and her soon-to-be stepdaughter, Lily (Sophia Hammons).

Ganatra revealed that Harper has “fun, amused, cool” vibes that were “inspired by Jodie Foster’s take on the character” in the original film.

The sequel will feature returning characters Jake (Chad Michael Murray), Ryan (Mark Harmon), Harry (Ryan Malgarini), Mr. Bates (Tobolowsky), Pei-Pei (Rosalind Chao), Pei-Pei’s mom (Lucille Soong), Peg (Haley Hudson) and Maddie (Christina Vidal Mitchell).

Lohan told EW that she was immediately onboard with returning for the “Freaky Friday” follow-up.

“When Jamie called me in Ireland, I was like, ‘Yes, I’m in, let’s do it,’” she shared. “It’s not very often that you get to work with someone who’s been such a big part of your life on a personal level.”

“That was exciting for me, to come back and do a big-screen film with a woman that I admire, that’s part of my life off screen,” she said about Curtis. “To have that chance again, it doesn’t happen much. I felt lucky to be able to do it.”

“Freakier Friday” will be released in theaters Aug. 8.
