“Americans have died. She is betraying DHS’s core mission and trashing your border security legacy,” he added.

Fetterman appealed to Trump directly via a social media post, citing Noem’s handling of the Minneapolis shootings of Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti within the last few weeks, saying “‘[Noem] is betraying DHS’s core mission and trashing your border security legacy.” Getty Images

Fetterman often acts as an independent voice in the Senate.

He has said that – unlike other Democratic senators – he will not force a government shutdown over funding disputes involving the Department of Homeland Security.

He urged Trump to not make the same mistake as President Biden in failing to fire “a grossly incompetent DHS Secretary.”
