JoJo Siwa is setting the record straight.
The “Dance Moms” alum, 21, opened up about her split from partner Kath Ebbs during an appearance on the UK’s “This Morning” on Monday, April 28, with her “Celebrity Big Brother” co-star Chris Hughes.
Siwa confirmed that she and Ebbs, 27, broke up during the “Celebrity Big Brother UK” wrap party last week. She also admitted that it “was not supposed to happen like that.”
“I’ll be honest, that was not a plan,” Siwa, who finished the reality competition in third place, said. “That was not an intention, that was not supposed to happen like that.”
“Initially, I was told that the wrap party was something [Ebbs] didn’t want to attend, and then about an hour into the wrap party, they decided they wanted to,” she continued. “And so I was genuinely just going to have a conversation before, and they straight up asked me if I was happy, and I said, ‘No.’”
Ebbs is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. On Saturday, April 26, they took to TikTok to claim that Siwa “dumped” them at the “Celebrity Big Brother” afterparty.
“I flew across the world to support and be there and hold that person in whatever they would be experiencing, leaving such a wild experience,” Ebbs said in the since-deleted TikTok video. “Instead, I was dumped at the afterparty, with Chris in the next room. Which is f–king crazy to say out loud.”
Ebbs added that Siwa told her she had “confused feelings” and “realized in the house that I wasn’t the person that [she] wanted to spend the foreseeable future with.”
Siwa and Ebbs’ split came nearly four months after they confirmed their relationship in January.
Before her breakup with Ebbs, Siwa revealed that her time on “Celebrity Big Brother” helped her realize that she is “not a lesbian” but “queer.”
“I’ve always told myself I’m a lesbian, but I think being here, I’ve realized, ‘Oh no, I’m not a lesbian, I’m queer,’” Siwa told fellow housemate Danny Beard, who previously appeared on “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK.”
“I think that’s really cool,” Siwa added regarding where she identifies in the LGBTQIA+ community. “I’m switching letters.”
There was also speculation that Siwa and her fellow “Celebrity Big Brother” contestant Chris Hughes, who previously starred on “Love Island UK,” may have started a relationship during their time on the reality show.
They both addressed those rumors during their appearance on “This Morning” on Monday.
“It’s hard to explain,” Hughes, 32, explained. “It’s just a really strong bond between two people, which is just a strong friendship. And I think you can have, like, a soulmate friendship. I think that’s a thing.”
“Having someone to go through an experience like that and have someone there every day when you’re emotional, when you’re down, when you’re happy,” he added, “that was beautiful.”
Siwa called Hughes “great” but acknowledged that their relationship is strictly “platonic.”
“Look, he’s a great guy,” the Nickelodeon star said. “It is platonic. We had a lot of fun together. Life is life and I don’t know any future of anything, but I’m really grateful for our dynamic that we have. And whatever life does, life will do.”
As for her time on “Celebrity Big Brother,” Siwa said the experience also made her realize that she “wanted to fix things in my life” and “make the changes I needed to make.”
“I was now in my own thoughts, away from everyone that I know, away from outside opinions, away from everything,” she explained. “And I sat with myself and from that point on, I really realized things that I was OK with in my life that I should never have been OK with in the first place.”
“I knew as soon as I got out,” Siwa added. “I wanted to fix things in my life and make the changes I needed to make.”
