Kacey Musgraves pulls out of event after breaking rib in fall

Kacey Musgraves has pulled out of an event in Nashville this weekend after an “extremely hard fall” in Mexico left her with a broken rib.

The Grammy-winning country star, 36, announced the news in an Instagram Story on Friday, sharing photos of her X-Rays.

“Sooo I’m in Mexico with a f—ing broken rib,” began the “Deeper Well” singer. “Wednesday night it was raining and I was running to grab some towels and had an extremely hard fall on some very slick tile I didn’t see. Thankful I didn’t smack my head but I landed very, very hard on my back left ribcage and I broke rib number 6.”

Musgraves said she’s currently in immense pain and confirmed there’s “no physical way” she can get on a plane and fly to Nashville.

“I have been looking forward to this for months but there is literally no other option. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience,” she said.

Musgraves was slated for Sunday’s live taping of the “Sing for Science” podcast alongside fungi expert Paul Stamets, to discuss psilocybin and “what gives ‘magic mushrooms’ their magic,” according to the event’s description. It has now been rescheduled for Sept. 18.

Musgraves has been open about her “profound experiences” with psychedelics, telling Billboard in 2018 that she felt magic mushrooms “made my music better … and also know my place egotistically in the universe.”
