Less than one year after going public with her diagnosis, Kate Middleton has announced that her cancer is in remission.
The Princess of Wales, 43, shared the health update in a statement Tuesday on social media.
“It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post featuring images of her with fellow cancer patients at The Royal Marsden hospital in London, where she was treated last year.
“As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead,” she added. “There is much to look forward to.”
Kate was photographed speaking with hospital staff and chemotherapy patients during what was described as a surprise visit to the Marsden, where she’s taken on a role as joint patron to promote groundbreaking cancer research and patient wellbeing.
“The Princess wanted to make the journey to both show her gratitude to the incredible team, but also highlight the world-leading care and treatment the Marsden provides,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson said in a statement.
Amid public scuttlebutt and wild conspiracy theories about her absence from the spotlight after undergoing planned abdominal surgery last January, Kate revealed in March that she’d been diagnosed with cancer and would receive chemotherapy treatment.
No further details of her diagnosis have been publicly disclosed.
The mother of three, who’s been married to Prince William since 2011, shared in September that she’d completed her cancer treatment and was focused on staying “cancer free” and returning to her royal duties.
