King Charles pictured for first time after hospitalization for cancer treatment side effects

King Charles was spotted for the first time following his hospitalization for cancer treatment side effects.

On Friday, the monarch, 76, was photographed as he left Clarence Home in London. He smiled and waved to onlookers as he sat in the back of a black Audi.

Charles experienced “temporary” side effects from his treatment just hours earlier on Thursday. Despite his appearance on Friday, he canceled all of his events that were initially in his diary.

“Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital,” a Buckingham Palace spokesman said.

“His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s diary programme will also be rescheduled.”

He was transported to the hospital by car and not an emergency vehicle for the brief visit on Thursday. Queen Camilla did not join him for the trip, the Sun reported.

Tourist Julian Mati said he was “horrified” on hearing the news about King Charles one day earlier.

“We had come down to the palace today to take pictures but we never imagined we would see the king. To see him smiling and waving, it’s such a relief,” he said, via the Associated Press.

Last week, Charles gave a brief remark about his health while speaking with other cancer patients in Northern Ireland.

“Keep buggering on,” he said at the time. “You just have to push on, don’t you?”

Charles revealed his cancer diagnosis in Feb. 2024 after he underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate. Two months later, his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, revealed her own cancer diagnosis. In Sept. 2024, she announced that she was cancer free after undergoing treatment.
