“Floribama Shore” star Kirk Medas has passed away. He was 33.
Aimee Hall, who starred alongside Medas on the popular MTV reality show, announced the tragic news on Facebook on Friday, May 2.
“We lost our brother, our best friend, our heart — Kirk,” Hall, 32, wrote. “I was at the beach when I felt it. Before the call even came, a dolphin kept coming up to me, as if to say goodbye.”
“Kirk and I shared a love for dolphins and the ocean, and in that moment, I just knew,” she continued in the touching post. “Though my heart is shattered, I find peace in knowing he’s no longer in pain. He’s in heaven now—free, whole, and making everyone laugh the way only he could.”
“Kirk had the kindest soul, a heart full of love for everyone he met, and a spirit that brought people together,” Hall added. “He truly was the glue that held us all close.”
Medas’ heartbreaking death comes after it was revealed that the reality TV star had been fighting for his life on a ventilator for over two weeks amid a “severe case” of necrotizing pancreatitis and sepsis.
He was hospitalized in intensive care on April 18, according to an Instagram post shared by Hall and fellow “Floribama Shore” alum Nilsa Prowant on Thursday. He fell into a coma shortly after.
“I’ll never forget the moment they placed him on the ventilator, before the coma took hold. I told him I loved him, and tears rolled from his eyes,” Hall wrote in her moving tribute on Friday. “That memory will stay with me forever.”
“I already miss his voice, his laughter, his presence,” she continued. “The world feels a little dimmer without him—but I know I’ll see my best friend again someday.”
“Until then, I’ll carry him in my heart,” Hall concluded. “Always.”
Medas first made a name for himself in 2017 when he was picked to star in “Floribama Shore” alongside Hall, Prowant, Gus Smyrnios, Jeremiah Buoni, Candace Rice, Codi Butts, and Kortni Gilson.
He remained on the “Jersey Shore” successor, which followed Medas and his seven castmates as they enjoyed their summers in the Florida Panhandle, for all four seasons from 2017 to 2021.
According to Medas, he only ended up on “Floribama Shore” because he tagged along with a “nervous” friend who tried landing a spot on the show.
“My buddy called me and was like, ‘I’m getting interviewed for this TV show, I’m nervous and I need some comfort,” the Atlanta native told The Post back in 2017. “So I went over to his house and [the MTV producers] ended up meeting me and they asked if they could interview me.”
“I ended up making the cut,” he added at the time, “but I felt bad because [my friend] didn’t.”
Following “Floribama Shore,” Medas made several special appearances on other reality shows like “Fear Factor” and “Wild ‘n Out.” He also spent his last months posting on Instagram about his fitness and spiritual journey.
