Kirsten Dunst is ready to pass the spirit stick to someone new.
The actress, 43, made it clear she isn’t looking to pick up her pom poms 25 years after starring as Torrance Shipman in the 2000 cheer comedy “Bring It On.”
“I’m like, leave good things where they are,” Dunst told Entertainment Tonight on Monday. “I don’t need to put on a cheerleading outfit. I don’t even know what I would do—be a coach or something? Let’s leave it.”
Dunst starred alongside Gabrielle Union, Eliza Dushku, and Jesse Bradford in the film that followed two high school cheerleading squads, the Toros and the Clovers, as they prep for the national cheer competition.
The franchise went on to expand with six more films, including “Bring It On: All or Nothing” starring Hayden Panettiere and Solange Knowles in 2006.
But just last year, Dunst had a different tune about returning for a sequel.
“I mean, it depends,” the star told Entertainment Tonight in 2024. “As long as it’s not embarrassing.”
That same year, Dunst attended a screening of the film at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Forever Cemetery in August.
“I am T-T-T-Torrance,” she said, reenacting Torrance’s cheer from the film. “Your Captain Torrance! Let’s go Toros!”
Despite not wanting to return for another movie, Dunst couldn’t help but gush over how much the fandom means to her.
“Oh my God, you guys, this is the craziest thing I’ve ever witnessed in my life,” she addressed the crowd. “I am so overwhelmed. My friends and family are here. I’m gonna watch with you guys. I haven’t seen any of these movies since I was a teen myself, with an audience. I’m so honored.”
Dunst then recited the introductory cheer from the Toro squad as the movie played.
“Hate us ’cause we’re beautiful,” she chanted. “Well we don’t like you either. We’re cheerleaders, we are cheerleaders. Roll call!”
Although Dunst isn’t looking to step back into the world of cheerleading, there is another franchise she wants in on.
The star said she would love to join “Minecraft Movie” or a similar project that would rake in the big bucks.
“Maybe I can just make a movie where I don’t lose money,” she teased to Town & Country in August.
The summer film became the highest-grossing film domestically in 2025, per Forbes.
Dunst also touched on family life during the interview, revealing that her and Jesse Plemons’ youngest son, James, 4, had a “serious health scare” earlier this year.
She stated that Plemons, 37, and their sons James and Ennis, 7, joined her in Budapest while she filmed the movie “The Entertainment System Is Down” in January.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2022, rented a house and enrolled Ennis in a school in Hungary. They were originally going to stay during the film’s six-month shoot.
However, things became “extremely frightening” when James got sick. In response, Plemons, Ennis, and James packed up and headed back to be with family in Los Angeles.
Dunst recalled being alone in Budapest, feeling like “‘Final Destination,’ where you’re imagining all the things that could go wrong, worst-case scenarios happening to your child.”
“I have never seen that movie,” the “Bring It On” alum continued. “But I know the concept. That’s how it feels to be a mother at times.”
At one point, the mom-of-two did fly back home for a quick visit.
Dunst has kept tight-lipped about the details surrounding James’ health scare, but she did confirm at the time that “everyone is fine now.”
Dunst also gave credit to her partner, noting that the incident “brought us together as a family in a deeper way.”
