L.I. sisters charged with stabbing man defending younger sibling

Two teenage Long Island sisters have been charged with stabbing a young man who was defending his younger sister, according to police and the man’s family.

Cops said Myia King-Harrison, 19, and Diamond King, 18, attacked 21-year-old Nico Cassetana on Saturday night, News 12 Long Island reported.

The two King sisters have been charged with first-degree gang assault and first-degree assault, according to Newsday.

Cassetana’s father told News 12 the sisters had been bullying Nico’s younger sister, who is 14 years old. He said Cassetana stepped up to defend his sister at their home around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, only to be stabbed in the back during a confrontation.

Neither police nor the family have explained the prior relationship between the King sisters, who live in Bay Shore, and the Cassetana family, which lives 20 miles east in Mastic.

Cassetana was airlifted to a local hospital and underwent multiple surgeries, his family told News 12. He remained in a medically induced coma on Monday afternoon.

King-Harrison and King initially fled the scene but were arrested Sunday, police said. Their arrests came after Lionel Cassetana first spoke with News 12 and said his son suffered a punctured artery during the brawl.

Under state law, a person is guilty of gang assault if they injure someone “when aided by two or more other persons,” implying either a third attacker during Saturday’s incident or that the charges against the King sisters will be altered.
