A suspect has been identified in the 2024 murder of a Long Island man, and investigators believe the wanted woman is hiding in Queens, police said this week.
Majorie Quarrie, 50, is suspected of murdering Conrad Gowan, 36, in a Jamesport residence on March 4, 2024, Suffolk County Police said in an alert. An arrest warrant for second-degree murder has been issued.
Quarrie’s birth name is Nicola Watson, but she commonly uses the other name, according to authorities. She has been arrested at least twice before under the name Majorie Quarrie.
On the day of the murder, Quarrie was attempting to visit Gowan, her boyfriend, at the home in Jamesport where he worked as a live-in health aide, police said.
However, Gowan was juggling multiple girlfriends at the time, and another woman was inside the home when Quarrie arrived, according to investigators. Gowan stopped Quarrie from and she stormed away, cops said.
But Quarrie returned to the residence late at night, stormed in, argued with Gowan and stabbed him in the neck, police said. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Though Quarrie is a native of Jamaica, Suffolk police believe she did not flee the country. Instead, they believe she is working cash jobs off the grid throughout Queens, and she has family in the borough.
At the time of the murder, Quarrie was also working as a live-in health aide but was using the name of a friend’s child to cash her checks, cops said. She has no cell phone or social media presence and is known to frequently change her appearance with a variety of wigs, according to police.
“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about my nephew and cry about my nephew,” Gowan’s aunt, Debbie Thompson, told WABC.
