A Long Island woman was arrested for allegedly hitting a 14-year-old girl multiple times with a metal water bottle, authorities said Tuesday.
Toni Monroe was arrested outside Brentwood High School shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday and charged with assault and endangering the welfare of a child, a Suffolk County Police spokesperson confirmed to the Daily News.
The incident unfolded as Monroe’s 15-year-old daughter got into an altercation with the victim, authorities said.
The two girls were allegedly “exchanging words” when Monroe, 35, struck the 14-year-old with the water bottle.
The confrontation was broken up by a security guard, who detained Monroe in the school’s parking lot a short time later.
The young victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Officials did not immediately release details on her condition, but according to the Daily Voice, she was struck on her head and body.
Monroe was taken to the Suffolk County Police 4th Precinct in Smithtown and is expected to be arraigned Wednesday in Central Islip court.
