Liberty star Jonquel Jones exits game vs. Mercury with apparent leg injury

Liberty center Jonquel Jones exited Thursday’s matchup against the Phoenix Mercury with an apparent right leg injury.

The injury occurred at the 8:25 mark of the second quarter on the center’s shot attempt over Mercury guard Sami Whitcomb. Jones landed on Whitcomb’s foot and fell on the Barclays Center hardwood in pain.

Isabelle Harrison replaced Jones, who didn’t shoot the pair of free throws. Jones didn’t return to the game.

Jones, who just returned Tuesday from an ankle injury, appeared to hold her knee after suffering the injury on Thursday. She was helped up by Liberty staff and managed to limp to the locker room.

She exited the game two points, four rebounds and one block in nine minutes of action.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
